While these claims went unnoticed for a while, observant observers on discussion forums in Japan and China began noticing a striking similarity between these characters. They compared Lyney and Lynette to Ange le Carré and Charlotte from the anime Princess Principal, released in 2017, long before Genshin Impact's debut.

In the case of Charlotte and Lynette, the design of the dress, hairstyle, and ruffles are identical. While for Ange and Lyney, the hairstyle, the presence of the hat, and even the gestures stand out in a similar way. Immediately after noticing these similarities, fans questioned the inspiration behind the game's new characters.

Check out the public's comments:

  • It seems that the plagiarism is quite clear.
  • I think these two appeared all the way back in 2020 in one of the Genshin Impact videos, but now that we have them in detail, they definitely look very similar.
  • I don't remember the name of the anime, but didn't they recently release a hexalogy of films?
  • This isn't anything new. The game is rife with accusations of plagiarism of Japanese anime and manga characters.
  • Well, they copied half the world, it's already a surprise when you find a 100% original character.
