Genshin Impact will no longer be available on PlayStation 4 in 2026

HoYoverse has set a timeline for ending support for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4. HoYoverse will begin the process on September 10, 2025, by removing the game from the PlayStation Store on PS4. Additionally, on that same date, it will release version 6.0 of Genshin Impact, available only for consoles and devices compatible with the new technical requirements.

Announcement

Despite this, players will still be able to access the game on PS4 for a limited time. Furthermore, HoYoverse will officially end support on April 8, 2026, completely disabling the game on the previous generation console.

In-game purchases will also be discontinued

In addition to the removal of the game itself, all in-app purchase systems within Genshin Impact will also be discontinued for PS4 users. Items such as Full Moon Blessing, Genesis Crystals, and Fortune Pearls will be unavailable starting February 25, 2026.

Therefore, those still playing on PS4 should plan ahead. The end of microtransactions is yet another indication that HoYoverse is redirecting its efforts to newer platforms, such as PlayStation 5 and PC.

The reason for ending support is related to the limitations of the PlayStation 4

According to the developer, the decision to end support for the PlayStation 4 was made due to technical limitations of the hardware. Released over a decade ago, the console no longer keeps pace with the graphical and performance evolution that HoYoverse desires for the future of the game.

Version 6.0 of the game, for example, will come with new minimum requirements to run stably. This reinforces the need to leave behind older platforms that can no longer offer the complete experience desired by the developers.

Players will be able to migrate their accounts to other platforms

To avoid loss of progress, HoYoverse will allow PS4 players to link their accounts to an email address . The process is simple and can be done through the game's settings menu. Starting December 17, 2025, all users will begin receiving pop-ups suggesting this migration whenever they log into the game.

With the account linked, it will be possible to continue playing on PS5, PC, or mobile devices, keeping previous characters, achievements, and purchases.
