Developer HoYoverse has announced the end of support for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4. The decision marks a turning point for the popular action RPG, which will no longer be playable on the console starting in April 2026.

HoYoverse will remove the game from the PS Store in September 2025 and will gradually discontinue updates. Players will have until February 2026 to make in-game purchases and should prepare to migrate their accounts to other platforms.

Genshin Impact will no longer be available on PlayStation 4 in 2026

HoYoverse has already set a timeline for ending support for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4. HoYoverse will begin the process on September 10, 2025, by removing the game from the PlayStation Store on PS4. Additionally, on that same date, it will release Genshin Impact version 6.0, available only on consoles and devices that support the new technical requirements.

Despite this, players will still be able to access the game on PS4 for a limited time. Additionally, HoYoverse will officially end support on April 8, 2026, completely disabling the game on the last-generation console.

In-game purchases will also be discontinued.

In addition to the game's removal, all in-game purchasing systems within Genshin Impact will also be discontinued for PS4 users. Items such as Full Moon Blessing, Genesis Crystals, and Pearls of Fortune will be unavailable starting February 25, 2026.

Therefore, those still playing on PS4 should plan ahead. The end of microtransactions is another indication that HoYoverse is redirecting its efforts to newer platforms, such as the PlayStation 5 and PC.

The reason for the end of support is linked to the limitations of the PlayStation 4

According to the developer itself, the decision to end support for the PlayStation 4 was due to the technical limitations of the hardware. Released over a decade ago, the console no longer keeps up with the graphical and performance developments that HoYoverse wants for the game's future.

Version 6.0 of the game, for example, will come with new minimum requirements for stable operation. This reinforces the need to move away from legacy platforms, which can no longer deliver the full experience developers desire.

Players will be able to migrate their accounts to other platforms

To prevent loss of progress, HoYoverse will allow PS4 players to link their accounts to an email address . The process is simple and can be done through the game's settings menu. Starting December 17, 2025, all users will begin receiving pop-ups suggesting this migration whenever they log in.

With your account linked, you can continue playing on PS5, PC, or mobile devices, keeping your characters, achievements, and previous purchases.
