According to the international news site Variety , Scarlett Johansson, whom you know as Lucy and Black Widow in The Avengers, has been confirmed to play the character Motoko Kusanagi (Major) in the film Ghost in the Shell.
Since 2014, Dreamworks had been searching for the actress to play the role, and Margot Robbie to portray the character.
The plot follows the original anime/manga story in which Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetic police officer, fights to bring justice to the streets of her Japanese megacity in a dystopian future. Former Marvel executive Avi Arad (Spider-Man) is one of the film's producers.
