Sucker Punch has completed development of Ghost of Yōtei, and subsequently, the game received an age rating in Taiwan. This registration confirms that the version submitted already contains all the planned elements. Hours later, Sony officially announced the release date: the title arrives on PlayStation 5 on October 2nd.
The international rating, required before commercialization, confirms the presence of violence, inappropriate language, and the use of alcohol and tobacco. The content follows the mature style of Ghost of Tsushima, its predecessor that established the franchise in the samurai universe.

The game expands the map and introduces new characters
The new protagonist, Atsu, survived a massacre and sets out for revenge. Wielding a symbolic katana, she confronts the Six of Yōtei, a group of villains with distinct abilities. The player can then decide the order of each confrontation, shaping the narrative based on their choices.
The map is 30% larger than Tsushima's and features new biomes, minigames, and side activities. The expansion of the open world reinforces the promise of total immersion. Furthermore, the title promises a more dynamic experience, with the freedom to explore and progress through the story at your own pace.
Among the antagonists are Cobra, Oni, Kitsune, Spider, Dragon, and Lord Saito. Each offers specific challenges, requiring varied strategies. The released trailer revealed parts of these battles and the setting, which accurately blends historical and fictional elements.

Sony opens pre-orders in May with three editions available
Pre-orders will begin on May 2nd, with digital, physical, and collector's editions available. The basic version will include only the game. The Deluxe edition includes extra items such as armor and an exclusive horse. The Collector's Edition will include a figurine, mask, and a bag of coins.
Sony has not yet released official prices, but the standard edition is expected to cost around R$ 350 in Brazil. The collector's edition, one of the brand's most complete, targets an audience that values physical items and exclusive content.
The PlayStation Store already allows users to add the game to their wishlist. Community anticipation is high, and Sony is betting on a broad marketing campaign to reach both loyal players and new audiences.
The release seeks space among other major titles of the year
The announcement of the official date was carefully planned. In 2025, Sony already has Death Stranding 2 scheduled for June and Marathon in September. The choice of October aims to avoid conflicts with other releases and maintain focus on the new PS5 exclusive.
The proximity to the arrival of GTA 6, scheduled for the end of the year, also influenced the calendar. Sony's strategy is to distribute its main titles throughout the months, expanding the brand's presence and optimizing the commercial performance of each game.
With development completed and the official release date set, Ghost of Yōtei now leads the list of most anticipated releases of the second half of the year. The bet is on the game's quality, fan loyalty, and the power of the PS5 to sustain another success for the platform.
