After announcing Rupert Sanders as director of the Hollywood live-action Ghost in the Shell, or rather Ghost in the Shell here in Brazil – which screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) wrote, Dreamworks is negotiating with Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) to take on the role of protagonist Major.
The plot is expected to follow the anime's lead, in which Major Mokoto Kusanagi, a cybernetic police officer, fights to bring justice to the streets of her Japanese megacity in a dystopian future.
Former Marvel executive Avi Arad (Spider-Man) is one of the film's producers.
