Gintama! – “Final” chapter of the manga will be released in June

Shueisha revealed today that the “final chapter” of the Gintama ! by Hideaki Sorachi will be published on the franchise's app on June 17th. After the news of several endings to the work, will it be this time?

This year's 26th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump previously revealed that the chapter would be released on June 10, but Shueisha on Twitter stated that due to "various circumstances" the chapter will be released on June 17. The same printing error will be present in the upcoming 27th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

The manga's “last fanbook” will be released this summer. The magazine also stated that the “final volume” of the manga will be released simultaneously with the fanbook.

The manga ended its production in Weekly Shonen Jump in the 42nd issue of last year, on September 15, as planned, however Shueisha announced on the same day that the manga would continue “for a while longer” in Shueisha's Jump Giga magazine. The manga's run on Jump Giga was launched with a 54-page chapter in the magazine's first Winter issue, on December 28th. Gintama ran on Jump Giga for three consecutive editions. The third chapter of Jump Giga announced in February that the manga would continue in the franchise's application.

The manga was then released on the app on May 13th, and the second chapter premiered today (27th). The next and supposed “final” chapter will be released on June 17th.

Sorachi began the manga in 2004. The manga has inspired several anime series, including the most recent one that began airing last July, two anime films, several OVAs and anime events, two live-action films, and two spinoff series live-action net. A new anime is “probably” in production.
