Gintama: The Final , the new film Gintama franchise , has sold a total of 1.25 million tickets , bringing its total ticket sales to 1.74 billion yen as of Monday. The film's character designer and chief animation director, Shinji Takeuchi , drew the following illustration to celebrate the milestone:
The film premiered on January 8th in Japan and took 1st place at the box office.
