Gintama franchise will return to theaters on October 6, 2026, with the premiere of a fully reanimated film based on the Yoshiwara in Flames . The film will adapt the intense battle against Housen, shown between episodes 139 and 146 of the anime.

The official trailer highlights the new Cinemascope (2.35:1) . The production will be handled by BN Pictures Naoya Ando directing . Therefore, the project will also have Youichi Fujita as supervising director, Taku Kishimoto on the script and Shinji Takeuchi on character design and animation direction.
Created by Hideaki Sorachi , the manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2018 and finished in Jump Giga in 2019. The animated adaptation had 367 episodes , several OVAs, films, novels and games, becoming a cultural phenomenon.
The anime began under Sunrise , until being taken over by Bandai Namco Pictures in the fourth season. However, the last major release was Gintama: The Very Final , in 2021, which adapted the manga's final arc. The film grossed over 1.85 billion yen (approx. US$17 million) and was among the highest-grossing productions in Japan that year.
With the new reanimated version of Yoshiwara on Fire , fans will be able to relive one of the series' most iconic moments with updated quality and a cinematic look.
