The official website for the anime adaptation of Given began streaming a new promotional video on Thursday. The video features the character Akihiko Kaji (voiced by Takuya Eguchi).
The series will premiere on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block in July. The anime will be the “first anime based on a yaoi manga” to be broadcast on noitaminA.
As for the cast of the anime: Shougo Yano as Mafuyu Sato (guitarist and vocalist), Yuma Uchida as Ritsuka Uenoyam (guitarist), Masatomo Nakazawa as Haruki Nakayama (bassist) and Takuya Eguchi as Akihiko Kaji (drummer).
Hikaru Yamaguchi (director of Escha Chron, episode director of Mr. Osomatsu, Battle Spirits Double Drive) is directing the anime at studio Lerche. Yuniko Ayana (BanG Dream! both seasons, Girls Beyond the Wasteland) is supervising the series' scripts.
The story revolves around Ritsuka, who plays the guitar, but has lost interest in the instrument. One day, he meets Mafuyu, who is holding a broken guitar. Ritsuka unintentionally begins teaching Mafuyu, but when he hears Mafuyu's voice, things suddenly begin to change for Ritsuka.
