According to TV Line , Reilly explained that we'll see a lot more of Batman than initially expected. " We'll be doing an arc of Bruce Wayne from when he's a kid to when he puts on his cape ," the executive said. Of course, there may be a time jump, depending on how long the series runs.
In addition to Batman , Gotham will also feature appearances by some of the classic comic book characters. " Young Bruce Wayne, the Penguin, the Riddler, and how they became... What happened to [someone] becoming Catwoman, " all with Gotham as a backdrop.
Gotham will show Detective James Gordon rising through the ranks of the city's police force. The protagonist's first case will apparently be the death of Bruce Wayne . The pilot is scheduled to film in March 2014.
The series will be produced by Warner Bros. TV and will be written by Bruno Heller , from The Mentalist , and directed by Danny Cannon .
