The manga Grand Blue by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka went on hiatus in the February issue of Kodansha 's Good! Afternoon . The announcement states that Inoue has been suffering from back pain due to overwork, and the manga will remain on hiatus until he recovers.
Synopsis
Kitahara Iori is an energetic young man who has just begun his university life in the city of Izu, which is located near the ocean. However, upon moving into his uncle's diving shop, "Grand Blue," Iori discovers the beautiful ocean, lovely women, and men who love to drink and dive.
Inoue and Yoshioka launched the manga in Kodansha 's Good! Afternoon in April 2014. Crunchyroll is also streaming chapters of the manga as they are released in Japan.
The anime Grand Blue stood out from other comedies by bringing a more adult side, but still with irreverent humor, delivering a frenetic comedy mixed with slice-of-life.
Finally, the manga inspired a 12-episode anime produced by Studio Zero-G that premiered in July 2018. Amazon Prime streamed the anime worldwide as it aired. The manga also inspired a live-action film that premiered in Japan in August 2020.
