After more than a decade since the release of GTA 5, Rockstar Games has finally revealed details about the next installment in the franchise. The first trailer, released in December 2023, confirmed the return to Vice City and introduced Lucia, the series' first female protagonist. Furthermore, promises of a massive map, stunning graphics, and an even more vibrant world heightened player anticipation.

The game is scheduled to arrive in the fall of 2025, initially for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version, however, remains unknown. While Rockstar typically releases its games on PCs sometime after consoles, there's no official confirmation that this will happen with GTA 6.

While we wait for the release, we've gathered all the information released so far. See what to expect from Rockstar's new game.

When will GTA 6 be released?

The first official trailer revealed that GTA 6 will arrive in 2025, but without a specific date. However, a financial report from Take-Two, the company responsible for publishing the game, confirmed that the release will take place in the fall of the northern hemisphere, between September and December.

Although the release date has already been set, there's always the possibility of delays. Rockstar has a history of delaying its releases to ensure the game hits the market with as much polish as possible. GTA 5, for example, was delayed before its release in 2013, as was Red Dead Redemption 2.

Furthermore, a former Rockstar developer stated that the company won't be certain it can meet the 2025 deadline until around May of that year. Therefore, players should be prepared for the possibility of schedule changes.

Platforms: Where will it be possible to play GTA 6?

So far, Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will only be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This means that last-generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, will be left out.

The decision makes sense, as the game promises to be one of the most technologically advanced in the franchise. Rockstar wants to take full advantage of the power of the new generation, offering cutting-edge graphics and a more immersive world.

The big question is whether GTA 6 will be released on PC. The company hasn't yet confirmed whether GTA 6 will be released on PC, but if it follows the pattern of previous games, PC players may have to wait until 2026 to receive the game. GTA 5, for example, was released on consoles in 2013 but only arrived on PC two years later.

Vice City and a world bigger than ever

The first GTA 6 trailer confirmed that the game will be set in Vice City, the iconic Miami-inspired city. However, this time, Rockstar promises a much larger world than the one seen in the 2002 classic.

The game will be set in the fictional state of Leonida, which includes Vice City and surrounding regions. This means players will have access to a wide variety of settings, from vibrant urban areas to rural and swampy areas, similar to those found in real-life Florida.

Fans have already begun analyzing the trailer for familiar locations. The Ocean View Hotel, one of the most iconic landmarks from the first Vice City, is featured. Additionally, new areas, such as wealthy neighborhoods and crowded beaches, suggest the city will be more vibrant than ever.

Rockstar has described GTA 6 as the franchise's biggest evolution yet. With an expanded map and impressive level of detail, the game promises to redefine the open-world concept.

Who are the protagonists of GTA 6?

One of the game's biggest new features is the introduction of Lucia, the series' first female protagonist. In the trailer, she appears wearing a prison uniform, suggesting she has a troubled past and possibly begins the story as a prison escapee.

She's not alone. The trailer also shows a male character, still unnamed. The two appear to have a relationship inspired by the classic criminal couple Bonnie and Clyde, suggesting the narrative will revolve around robberies, escapes, and betrayals.

Rockstar always creates memorable characters, and Lucia promises to be one of the most memorable in the franchise. There's still no

What will the gameplay be like?

Rockstar hasn't released a gameplay trailer yet, but leaks indicate some significant changes to GTA 6's gameplay. Among the new features, we can expect:

  • Improved stealth system – Characters will be able to crawl, hide better, and carry bodies.
  • Smarter Police – Officers will have more advanced strategies, making pursuits more challenging.
  • New item system – Medicines such as painkillers can be used to restore health.
  • Increased interaction with the environment – It will be possible to use objects as improvised weapons.
  • Improved Wanted System – The famous five-star system continues, but the police will be more persistent.

Furthermore, the graphics promise a huge leap forward compared to GTA 5. The city will be more detailed, with realistic lighting and more expressive NPCs, making the world more immersive.

What will happen to GTA Online?

With the arrival of GTA 6, many players are wondering what the future holds for GTA Online, which continues to be a resounding success. Rockstar has already confirmed that GTA 5's online mode will remain active even after the new game's release, but has not yet revealed whether there will be a dedicated online version for GTA 6.

The new game may feature a revamped multiplayer mode, leveraging the latest generation's most advanced technologies. Considering the financial success of GTA Online, Rockstar likely has big plans for GTA 6's online experience.

GTA 6 is already one of the most anticipated games of the decade. With an expanded world, captivating characters, and gameplay improvements, Rockstar promises to deliver an innovative and memorable title. The return to Vice City and the introduction of Lucia as the protagonist demonstrate the studio's willingness to evolve the franchise without losing its essence.

There are still many unanswered questions, especially regarding the exact release date and the game's PC release. But with each new piece of information revealed, player anticipation only grows.

Rockstar has a history of exceeding expectations, and all signs point to GTA 6 following suit. Stay tuned for more news about the most anticipated game of recent years.
