While many fans were waiting for news about GTA 6, Rockstar Games surprised everyone this Friday (27) by announcing a discount campaign to celebrate the holiday season. The initiative, entitled “Holiday Sale”, offers discounts of up to 70%, but it was not enough to calm the spirits of a community in turmoil.

Expectations surrounding GTA 6 grew after rumors on forums and social media suggested the release of a new trailer on this date. However, Rockstar's post, focused exclusively on promotion, generated a wave of negative reactions. Fans expressed frustration, with many resorting to memes and ironic comments to voice their disappointment.

Christmas promotions attract a diverse audience

The promotional campaign, valid until January 7th, offers significant discounts. Highlights include 20% off Red Dead Redemption for PC, 50% off GTA V, and 70% off GTA IV. Additionally, there's a 30% discount on licensed products such as t-shirts, caps, and collectible items.

Although some took advantage of the opportunity to acquire classics at reduced prices, the promotion was overshadowed by the lack of news about GTA 6. The franchise, one of the most lucrative in gaming history, has been shrouded in mystery since the new title was announced. To date, Rockstar has kept details such as the release date, plot, and characters secret, which only fuels speculation.

Growing anticipation among fans

Since GTA V was released in 2013, fans have been waiting for a successor that would raise the bar even higher for the franchise. Rumors about the development of GTA 6 have been circulating for years, and expectations peaked in 2023 when Rockstar officially confirmed that the game was in production. However, the lack of more substantial announcements has generated frustration.

The reaction to Rockstar's announcement shows how invested the gaming community is in the next chapter of the saga. Comments on social media highlight the feeling that the Christmas promotion, while attractive, is not the announcement that fans were expecting.
