GTA 6 fans expected trailer, but Rockstar announces discounts

While many fans were waiting for news about GTA 6, Rockstar Games surprised us this Friday (27) by announcing a discount campaign to celebrate the holiday season. The initiative, titled “Holiday Sale”, offers discounts of up to 70%, but it was not enough to calm the spirits of an uproared community.

Expectations surrounding GTA 6 grew after rumors on forums and social media suggested the release of a new trailer on this date. However, Rockstar's publication, aimed exclusively at promotion, generated a wave of negative reactions. Fans expressed frustration, with many resorting to memes and ironic comments to express their disappointment.

Christmas promotions attract a diverse audience

The promotional campaign, valid until January 7th, offers significant discounts. Among the highlights are 20% discount on Red Dead Redemption for PC, 50% on GTA V and 70% on GTA IV. Additionally, there is a 30% discount on licensed products, such as t-shirts, caps and collectibles.

Although some took advantage of the opportunity to purchase classics at reduced prices, the promotion was overshadowed by the lack of news about GTA 6. The franchise, one of the most profitable in gaming history, has been surrounded by mystery since the new title was announced. So far, Rockstar has kept details such as the release date, plot and characters secret, which only fuels speculation.

Growing expectations among fans

Since GTA V was released in 2013, fans have been waiting for a successor that will further raise the standard of the franchise. Rumors about the development of GTA 6 have been circulating for years, and anticipation reached its peak in 2023, when Rockstar officially confirmed that the game was in production. However, the absence of more substantial announcements has generated frustration.

The reaction to Rockstar's publication shows how invested the gaming community is in the next chapter of the saga. Comments on social media highlight the feeling that the Christmas promotion, although attractive, is not the announcement that fans expected.
