This Friday morning, Rockstar officially announced that production on Grand Theft Auto 6 is underway .
In a press release, a representative from the Grand Theft Auto company said:
"With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new title in the Grand Theft Auto series. With each new project we embark on, our goal is always to surpass what we've delivered before, and we're happy to confirm that development on the next Grand Theft Auto is underway. We want to share more information as soon as we have something to share, so stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.".

The game does not yet have a release date and is expected to be set in the present day.
The last GTA 5 game was announced in October 2011 and released in September 2013; this year marks 9 years without a new game in the GTA franchise.
