GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of recent years, and expectation about its open scenarios and state -of -the -art graphics grows with each new information revealed. However, according to Obbe Vermeij, former developer of Rockstar Games, the inclusion of many exploitable interiors may be a mistake. He explains that the procedural generation of these spaces tends to make them repetitive and lifeless, which impairs the immersive experience of players.

The statement came after a fan questioned at X (former Twitter) if GTA 6 would have a large number of affordable internal scenarios. Vermeij, who worked on titles like GTA: San Andreas and GTA IV, went straight to the point. "We tried it at San Andreas and GTA IV, but in the end we gave up ," he said. According to him, the interiors generated in a procedural way are often monotonous and do not add significant value to the game.
The impact of open world accessibility
In the last titles of the franchise, such as GTA V, Rockstar has increased the amount of interiors affordable, allowing players to explore apartments, shops and other closed spaces. However, most of these places play a purely decorative role, without offering relevant interactive elements.
Still, some scenarios have become iconic within the series. In GTA: Vice City, for example, there is a direct reference to the movie Scarface, with a bloody tub next to a chainsaw. In Liberty City, the player can enter the statue of freedom and find a giant human heart pulsing inside. These details have contributed to the emergence of theories and mysteries that involve the franchise to this day.
The question raised by Vermeij suggests that, despite graphic and technological evolution, Rockstar can choose to maintain a balance between accessible scenarios and those that serve only part of the city's background. Thus, the sense of repetition is avoided and the quality of exploration is maintained.
GTA 6 and expectation for a denser world
GTA 6 promises to deliver one of the most detailed open worlds ever seen in video games, and the discussion of interior accessibility reinforces one of the challenges faced by developers. Creating a rich environment, but without compromising experience with empty or purposeless scenarios, will be essential to ensure the quality of the game.
Rockstar has not yet released details about the level of interiors exploration in the new title. However, taking into account the evolution of the franchise and the advancement of technology, GTA 6 is likely to present a balance between realism and dynamic gameplay.
The game is scheduled to launch at the end of 2025 and will first arrive for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC version has not yet been confirmed.
