Take-Two Interactive, responsible for one of the most popular franchises in games, has not yet confirmed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) for PC. For now, the game is only planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a premiere planned for 2025. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the company, highlighted the growing importance of the PC market, but avoided detailing the plans for this platform.

In an interview with IGN, Zelnick explained that Take-Two does not follow a uniform strategy for simultaneous releases on all platforms. He quoted civilization 7, which will hit the market for consoles and PC at the same time, but pointed out that GTA developer Rockstar Games adopts another approach. Historically, the company's launches begin on consoles and only then reach other platforms.
PC market grows, but consoles are priority in GTA 6
According to Zelnick, PC multiplatform game sales represent up to 40% of the total recipes of certain securities. This slice, according to him, has been growing in recent years, which reinforces the role of the PC as a key piece in the game industry. Nevertheless, Take-Two still prioritizes consoles for big debuts.
This choice is backed by an impact history of console releases. Zelnick believes that GTA 6, as well as other expected titles, will be a hardware sales driver in 2025. He also stressed that large games often encourage the purchase of new consoles, benefiting the entire industry.
Strategy follows Rockstar Games standard
The decision to launch GTA 6 initially for consoles is not new to fans of the franchise. In 2013, Grand Theft Auto V was first available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Only two years later, in April 2015, the PC version hit the market.
Another factor that can influence the approach to the PC is the history of conflict between Rockstar and the Modders . Recently, the company ended a project that recreated GTA 4 Liberty City within GTA 5, reinforcing its strict policy about unauthorized modifications.
So far, Take-TWO keeps focus on the release of GTA 6 for consoles and there is no evidence of when-or if-a PC version will be announced. Fan expectation, however, has been high, especially after a decade of waiting since the last main title of the series.
