Square Enix 's mental magazine Gangan Joker announced the anime adaptation of Gugure! Kokkuri-san by author Midori Endō.

The anime stars Ryou Hirohashi (Working!, Kaleido Star!) as Kohina Ichmatsu, Daisuke Ono (Durarara!) as Kokkuri-san, Takahiro Sakurai (Hack // Roots, Noragami) as Inugami, and Jouji Nakata (Fate/Zero) as Jigaraki.

The original manga revolves around Kohina, a girl who ends up summoning a Kokkuri-san, a rather trashy ghost from Japanese folklore. When the Kokkuri-san appears, he reveals himself to be a handsome young man with white hair. Although he only intended to haunt her, he becomes concerned about her habit of eating "Ramen" at every meal, so he decides to stop scaring her.

Midori Endō began the manga in 2011, and Square Enix shipped the fifth compiled volume in Japan last August.
