Currently one of Japan's best-selling manga authors Haikyuu!! , who goes by the pseudonym Haruichi Furudate , took a trip to Brazil. During his trip, he interviewed two Brazilian volleyball players: Bárbara Seixas and Fernanda Berti. Before returning to Japan, he also interviewed the duo Evandro Guerra and Bruno Schmidt.
"We'll use what we discussed with the girls as a concept for the characters' stories; it won't be exactly personifications of the characters. We're here to better understand the setting and write a script richer in detail, " said Haruichi Furudate.
"This is the first time I've been the inspiration for a story. And for a drawing in Japan, it's very special. It's different, it's cool. I'm completely giddy. Oftentimes, we get caught up in this whole process of working and working and don't realize the scope of our achievements. You forget that the world is watching you and how far your work has come. It's a great source of pride," said Bárbara.
Haikyuu!! is published by Shueisha , and has had 3 seasons adapted into anime , as well as films and OVAs.
