Kouta Hirano launched the manga in Young King Ours in 1997, concluding it in September 2008 after 11 years. Dark Horse published the tenth volume of the Hellsing manga in North America in May 2010. Dark Horse Comics is currently releasing the manga in a new deluxe three-volume hardcover edition, with the second volume shipping in November 2020.
The manga inspired a anime in 2001, released on DVD between 2002 and 2003. Funimation re-released the series on DVD in 2012, which also included an OVA called Hellsing Ultimate , shown irregularly between 2006 and 2012. Geneon released up to the third volume in North America in 2007, before Funimation began distributing the anime.
Finally, Crunchyroll began streaming the anime in April 2017.
