Hi! Tonbo – Manga gets anime adaptation

Synopsis

The story begins with Igarashi, who was disqualified as a professional golfer after a certain "incident" and therefore moves to the Tokara Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture to escape the spotlight. On these islands, known as "Japan's last unexplored wilderness," he meets a naive girl named Tonbo. It turns out that these supposedly unexplored islands have a homemade golf course, where Tonbo plays every day. She demonstrates genius-level prowess, playing every type of shot with just one golf club, a 3-iron. Igarashi marvels at Tonbo's talent, though he has doubts about her using only a 3-iron. However, hidden deep within Tonbo's heart lies a painful and sad past…

Eventually, story creator Kawasaki and artist Furusawa launched the manga in Weekly Gold Digest, the general-interest golf magazine of Golf Digest Sha Co., Ltd., in August 2014.
