During the first anniversary of the release of the film Evangelion : 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time in Japan, director Hideaki Anno decided to answer some questions from fans. However, Anno denied the similarity between his wife and character Mari from the Evangelion films , stating that " this theory is nothing more than the assumption and speculation of several people . " First, the author really showed himself firm and convinced that his fans end up exaggerating sometimes.
Furthermore, in the post we can read: Observing articles, videos, etc. They claim that Mari was modeled after Anno's wife, but this is nothing more than supposition and speculation. At the time of production, it would have been impossible. Mari's personality (as well as Asuka's and others) was created by director Kazuya Tsurumaki [instead of Anno].
