During the first anniversary of the release of the film Evangelion : 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time in Japan, director Hideaki Anno answered some fan questions. He was asked if Mari was inspired by his wife , Moyoco Anno! So, let's find out together what the author said about it:
Hideaki Anno says that Mari is not inspired by his wife
However, Anno denied the resemblance between his wife and the character Mari from the Evangelion films , stating that " this theory is nothing more than the assumption and speculation of various people . " First, the author really showed himself to be firm and convinced that his fans sometimes exaggerate.
Furthermore, the post states: "Observing articles, videos, etc., they claim that Mari was modeled after Anno's wife, but this is nothing more than assumption and speculation. At the time of production, this would have been impossible. Mari's personality (as well as Asuka's and others') was created by the director Kazuya Tsurumaki [instead of Anno]."
Synopsis:
