Fujimi Shobo magazine announced on Monday that production on a third season High School DxD anime based on the light novel series Ichiei Ishibumi has been greenlit and will happen.
High School DXD began publication by Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Magazine in September 2008. The first volume was released on September 20, 2008, with a total of 13 volumes available in Japan as of September 6, 2012 under their Bunko Fujimi Fantasia imprint.
An anime adaptation was released in Japan by TNK and aired on AT-X and other networks from January 6, 2012, to March 23, 2012. The anime is licensed in North America by Funimation Entertainment, and in Australia and New Zealand by the entertainment channel Madman. The second season aired from July 7, 2013, to September 22, 2013.
Tetsuya Yanagisawa directed the first season of the anime at studio TNK with screenwriter Takao Yoshioka and character designer Junji Goto.
