The anime adaptation of the manga Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died) has arrived! This Tuesday, Netflix confirmed the production. Fans were also informed of the series' premiere date.
The horror manga had its first trailer and promotional image announced.
Therefore, Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died) will premiere in the summer of 2025 and will be shown on Netflix. The animation is by the studio CygamesPictures.

Synopsis:
Yoshiki and Hikaru are two teenagers living in a small rural town in Japan. Despite their polar opposite personalities and distinct interests, their friendship is deep and sincere. However, one fateful winter day, Hikaru suffers a fatal injury while hiking alone in the mountains. Before he dies, he is found by a mysterious supernatural entity that consumes him, taking on his physical form.
Written and illustrated by Mokumokuren , the manga gained serialization on Kadokawa Shoten 's Young Ace Up in August 2021. Mokumokuren first conceived of the series while studying for exams and later began posting drawings on Twitter, which led the Young Ace Up editorial department to approach Mokumokuren to serialize the manga via the Young Ace Up website.
