It was revealed by police in Shanghai, China that a man planned to kill Liu Wei and Cai Haoyu , the creators of the game Honkai Impact 3rd ( MiHoYo ). According to information, the suspect was allegedly armed with a knife and managed to infiltrate the building.
No one was injured and the suspect is now in police custody. The man apparently “was upset by the recent changes” to the game Honkai Impact 3rd'.
A recent update celebrating the title's three-year anniversary added bunny costumes to the game, but these items had to be removed in China. Many fans complained on social media that the costumes and dance moves – especially the female characters – were “disrespectful and vulgar” to the country's players.
Finally, in a note, the company removed it from the update in the country, apologizing: inappropriate and out of character with the characters .
