Shanghai police in China have revealed that a man was planning to kill Liu Wei and Cai Haoyu , the creators of the game Honkai Impact 3rd ( MiHoYo ). According to reports, the suspect was allegedly armed with a knife and managed to infiltrate the building.
No one was injured and the suspect is now in police custody. The man apparently “became upset about the recent changes” in the game Honkai Impact 3rd.
A recent update celebrating the game's three-year anniversary added bunny costumes, but these items had to be removed in China. Many fans complained on social media that the costumes and dance moves – especially those of the female characters – were "disrespectful and vulgar" to players in that country.
Finally, in a statement, the company removed the update in the country, apologizing: it was inappropriate and out of character for the characters .
