Have you ever stopped to think about how many Hashira there are in Demon Slayer ? Each one has a unique ability, a striking personality, and a story that makes you fall in love—or even fear them. But ultimately, how many of these pillars of strength are there in the Demon Slayer Corps?
Current Hashira in Demon Slayer
Giyu Tomioka

Giyu is the first Hashira that Tanjiro encounters. He initially tries to kill Nezuko, but after witnessing her protecting a helpless Tanjiro, Giyu changes his mind and sends the Kamado siblings to their mentor, Urokodaki Sakonji.
Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu is the Insect Pillar, known for her calm demeanor. She always has a smile on her face, regardless of the circumstances. However, she harbors an intense rage against demons, blaming them for the loss of her loved ones, including her older sister.
Kyojuro Rengoku

Kyojuro is the Flame Pillar, having inherited the title from his father, Shinjuro. Despite his turbulent and eccentric behavior, he is pure of heart and honorable. His mother instilled in him a moral code of protecting the weak.
Tengen Uzui

Tengen is a former shinobi who joined the Demon Slayer Corps. He is the flamboyant Sound Pillar who tries to be extravagant in everything he does.
Mitsuri Kanroji

With an openly passionate and somewhat scatterbrained nature, she wields a unique, whip-like sword made of a malleable metal, mastered only by her. Her extraordinary flexibility and unparalleled physical strength are a result of her denser-than-average muscles.
Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro, the Mist Pillar, seemingly calm and aloof, harbors an intense rage against demons, which fuels his relentless determination to fight them.
Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei, the Stone Pillar, is known as the strongest among all the Hashira of his era. An imposing figure with a compassionate heart, he once took in orphaned children.
Obanai Iguro

The Serpent Pillar, always accompanied by his loyal snake companion, Kaburamaru, is a formidable and tormented warrior. He carries the weight of self-loathing, haunted by a painful past.
Sanemi Shinazugawa

Finally, the current Wind Pillar, known for his aggressive and confrontational nature, attempted to expose Nezuko's demonic essence to the Hashira and Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Ancient Hashira
Shinjuro Rengoku – Ancient Hashira of Flames

Thus, he is the former Flame Pillar and father of Kyojuro and Senjuro, who renounced his position as a Hashira after recognizing the superiority of the original breathing style. He spends his days drinking at home until he receives a heartfelt message from Kyojuro, asking him to take care of himself.
Kanae Kocho – Former Flower Hashira

Formerly known as the Flower Pillar, this Hashira was Shinobu's biological older sister and Kanao's adoptive older sister. Tragically, she was a victim of Doma, one of the Upper Moons.
Sakonji Urokodaki – Former Water Hashira

Initially, Sakonji Urokodaki is a former Water Pillar and the master of our hero. He is initially apprehensive due to Tanjiro's gentle nature, but agrees to train him.
Jigoro Kuwajima – Former Thunder Hashira

On the other hand, Jigoro, a former Thunder Pillar, served as an instructor for Zenitsu and Kaigaku. Thus, adopting the pseudonym "Shihan," he gained a reputation for mentoring the most challenging students in the series.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni – the strongest Hashira

Finally, Yoriichi, the strongest Demon Slayer in history, terrified Muzan's heart when he nearly decapitated the Demon King during the Sengoku period. Thus, despite his Hashira rank not being revealed, Yoriichi enjoyed special privileges similar to the Pillars, including the unique engraving on his nirichin sword.
