The introduction of the IS into society has an overwhelming impact. As they can only be operated by women, the balance of power between men and women is broken, and women begin to dominate society over men.
Ten years after the first ISs were introduced, the world entered a new era of peace, broken by the discovery of a 15-year-old boy capable of operating an IS, a Japanese boy named Ichika Orimura. Recognizing his potential, the Japanese government forces him to enter the prestigious Infinite Stratos Academy, a place where pilots representing all nations are trained. Thus, his school life, despite being rigorous, is surrounded by women from all over the world.
