On Japanese forums, a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @m_hariqmaharita , who claims to be the mother of a minor, sparked intense discussion. She criticized the fact that her son's friends watched Chainsaw Man , even though it is a production recommended only for those over 16.

Kimetsu no Yaiba phenomenon , when many children watched the anime despite its violent scenes. "I want to stay away from families who allow cartoons for those over 16 without restrictions," she wrote.

She also stated that the work, in addition to its brutality, uses the female body as the protagonist's motivation, something she considers unacceptable. She also rejected the argument that banning this type of content would turn children into "repressed adults" in the future.

The post quickly generated hundreds of responses, with opinions divided:

  • “It's erotic and grotesque, not for children.”
  • “If so, let them watch Anpanman .”
  • “It’s not much different from Dragon Ball or Fist of the North Star .”
  • “It's not the anime's fault, it's the parents who keep their kids up at midnight.”
  • “You should watch Bocchi the Rock! or SPY vs. FAMILY .”
  • Kimetsu no Yaiba also has deaths and dismemberments, and children watch it.”

The debate shows that, in Japan, the age rating continues to be a topic of controversy between parents and anime fans.
