A Japanese man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for sharing pirated Spy x Family . In addition to the prison sentence, his sentence also includes a fine of 1 million yen (33,759.61 reais).

The story originated from Japanese news site Asashi , which reported on the ongoing case. According to the report, the accused shared edited Spy x Family videos on YouTube and made money from them. He also shared footage from the ending of the popular visual novel Steins;Gate: My Darling's Existence .

During the trial, copyright holders said the defendant "negatively impacted" their sales. The companies also claim his videos drove away potential customers and, therefore, he should be punished.
