The story came from Japanese news site Asashi , which reported on the ongoing case. According to the report, the accused shared edited Spy x Family videos on YouTube and made money off of them. Additionally, he shared images from the ending of the popular visual novel Steins;Gate: My Darling's Existence .
During court, copyright holders said the defendant “negatively impacted” their sales. The companies also claim that his videos drove away potential customers and, therefore, he should be punished.
