Jujutsu Kaisen director apologizes after being criticized for episode 14

As everyone knows, the Jujutsu Kaisen anime gained prominence after its incredible first season, so fans invested heavily in the series' standard. That said, episode 14 of the second season suffered harsh animation criticism, leading the episode's director, Hokuto Sadamoto, to apologize.

At the premiere of Thursday's episode (26), Hokuto said on Twitter apologizing for the material in episode 14 of the second season. Furthermore, he commented that the short period for delivering the animation was one of the factors behind the negative result.

“Even before accepting the contract, I was repeatedly told that I didn't have time, so I thought 'Let's save energy…', and that's my responsibility. […]

Not everyone is trash like me, so I know that everyone's sympathy and encouragement must come from the bottom of their hearts. But right after I release something I'm not happy with, that kind of reaction has the opposite effect, so for now, I just... I want you to give me a break. I will make up for this in my future work. Until then, I will live my life as the worst animator who ruined a masterpiece.”

It is also worth mentioning that Hokuto believed the credit as director of episode 14 of the 2nd season of Jujutsu Kaisen would not be registered. However, a leak revealed his role in production.

“I did a job that no one would appreciate and I'm sure I will continue to do it. Sorry. I was angry about the leak, but I was just a coward because I tried to run away, pretending I wouldn't be credited. I am really sorry."

MAPPA studio was previously accused of offering unsatisfactory working conditions to its employees. In addition to short delivery deadlines, other animators also reported, this week, lack of payments and credits for the projects they dedicated themselves to.

“I lost contact with the production people, so I couldn't get my payment or put my name in the credits.”

Synopsis:

The first season of the anime premiered in October 2020 and had 24 episodes animated by studio MAPPA. In addition, the studio also took care of the animation for the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which takes place a few years before the main series and tells the story of young Yuta Okkotsu.
