From the beginning of the manga , many fans expected a complete flashback exploring Sukuna . However, Gege chose to reveal fragments throughout the plot. We knew, for example, that Sukuna devoured his own brother while still in the womb and that, later, he made a contract with Kenjaku , being transformed into a cursed object.

Jujutsu Kaisen event in Japan, Gege shared precious details: after Sukuna's death, Uraume took care of his body. Over time, it is believed that Tengen unearthed his remains, which transformed into a sokushinbutsu —a Buddhist mummy. Interestingly, Sukuna himself found it amusing to become a representation of purity, even though he was an egocentric force of nature.

Although Sukuna died at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, the possibility of his return still exists. The manga universe has already shown that reincarnation is possible. Sukuna even mentioned that, if given another chance, he would choose a different path—suggesting that he could return as an ally in the distant future.
The final chapter, Jujutsu Kaisen 271 , was officially released on September 29, 2024 , and is available on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump .
