Spoiler alert : In the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 , Satoru Gojo stated that he eliminated Suguru Geto after he was defeated by Yuta Okkotsu . However, Geto is still alive in the current Jujutsu Kaisen timeline and is still the main villain of the series. It turns out that the villain, who we saw in the anime, is not Geto, but a curse that stole his body.

In Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was revealed that Geto was a student at the jujutsu wizard academy and a friend of Gojo. However, he questioned his purposes after Riko Amanai's death. Geto decided to exterminate all ordinary humans to create a world of sorcerers only. Since then, he lived as a villain and enemy of the wizard academy until he faced Yuta.
After he faced Yuta, Geto was seriously injured and unable to move, so Gojo took the chance to kill the enemy. The main story takes place a few years after the events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and Geto is still alive, this could lead to the idea that he survived somehow. However, Geto has actually died, and his body now serves as the receptacle for a curse called Kenjaku.
Kenjaku is a curse that has been alive for several centuries, and he often takes the form of a brain to control a sorcerer's body as if it were his own. When Geto died, Kenjaku took over his corpse to have a new body. Thus, he can use Geto's abilities and body at will, but no one knew about his existence until the Shibuya fight.
Synopsis:
The story therefore follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes involved with a secret society of sorcerers called Jujutsu Kaisen, who fight against curses, evil beings that haunt the world of the living. So, to protect his friends and innocent people, Yuji decides to join the jujutsu sorcerers as a student in training under the guardianship of Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer of all.
