Gojo was absent from the manga for three years, since chapter 91 of Jujutsu Kaisen. However, he returned in the most recent chapter (221) thanks to the efforts of Yuji Itadori and his friends, who managed to break the Prison Realm's seal. His return greatly impressed the manga's readers, and Gege Akutami took the opportunity to comment in the new issue of Shonen Jump .

Check it out:

“The return of Itadori’s right ear was a mistake, but the return of Gojo was not!”

This is a joke referring to the chapter in which Itadori appears with his entire ear, when it had been partially severed in the previous chapter.
