After Gojo was immobilized, the leader of the Curses revealed that he is not actually the real Suguru Geto, this body is just a vessel now. However, the villain is surprised when Geto's body resists and tries to regain control. Ashitaka , the protagonist of Princess Mononoke , goes through a similar situation to this when his body tries to act against his will. Comparing the two animes, it seems that Ashitaka's lack of control inspired Geto's scene.
