The isekai universe is about to gain new protagonists and authors! Starting July 7, 2025 , the MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 – THE ISEKAI presented by KADOKAWA , a worldwide contest seeking to find the next great story in the genre.
Contest brings together Kadokawa, MyAnimeList and Honeyfeed
The initiative is the result of a collaboration between Kadokawa Corporation Honeyfeed platform MyAnimeList website , who joined forces to discover creative talent around the world. As explained by Satoshi Arima , editor-in-chief of MF Books, the idea is to find authors capable of creating stories with the same impact as titles like Overlord , Re:ZERO , Mushoku Tensei , Sword Art Online , and Tate no Yuusha .
Aneko Yusagi participates as a special judge
The contest will feature Aneko Yusagi , author of The Rising of the Shield Hero , as a special judge. This means the finalists will have the chance to receive direct feedback from one of the biggest names in the isekai genre today. This represents a rare opportunity for writers who wish to transform their ideas into light novels published in Japan.
Dates, prizes, and how to participate
The contest will be held on the Honeyfeed , with public voting via MyAnimeList. See below for key dates:
- Application period: July 7 to September 29, 2025
- Jury voting: September 30 to November 16
- Public voting (finals): November 17 to December 15
- Final result: February 9, 2026
Among the prizes, the Grand Prize will receive US$5,000 , plus the possibility of publication in Japan by Kadokawa. However, if no text meets the publisher's standards, this prize may not be awarded. The other winners will receive US$3,000 each.
