Takeru Hokazono 's Kagurabachi manga continues to prove its worthiness for an anime adaptation. After all, with the release of its seventh volume on May 2, 2025, the work will surpass an impressive 2.2 million copies in circulation.
The news was officially revealed this Monday (29) on the series' official account on X (former Twitter). However, the English version, licensed by VIZ Media , is also moving forward, with the third volume scheduled for May 6.
What to expect from the Kagurabachi anime
Since its September 2023 debut in Weekly Shōnen Jump , Kagurabachi has quickly won over the otaku community. The story initially introduces Chihiro Rokuhira, a young apprentice to the renowned swordsmith Kunishige Rokuhira, famous for creating magical swords that ended the devastating Seitei War. However, Chihiro's peaceful life is shattered when the Hishaku group of sorcerers invades her home, murders her father, and steals the legendary "Enchanted Blades." Determined to exact revenge, Chihiro wields Enten, a secret seventh sword, and begins her journey.
Surprisingly, Kagurabachi went viral even before winning major awards. Memes comparing the title to acclaimed works like Boruto and Naruto flooded social media, generating massive curiosity. Although it began as a joke, the manga quickly won over readers with its intense narrative and memorable characters.
Today, its success is undeniable. For comparison, in July 2024, Kagurabachi had sold approximately 350,000 copies (including digital copies). In other words, in less than a year, the number tripled! It's no surprise that the work won the 10th Next Manga Award in the print manga category in 2024.
Although there's no official anime announcement yet, rumors are swirling behind the scenes. So, fans can only hope that the long-awaited adaptation becomes a reality soon.
