Chapter 128 of Kaiju No. 8, published June 19, ends the fight between Kafka Hibino and Mega Kaiju de Meireki. After a certain blow to the nucleus, Kafka defeats Daikaiju and all the other Kaiju revived by number 9. In addition, the protagonist, who had exchanged his own heart for another nucleus to save the defense force members, receives help from Isao Shinomiya.

In the last chapter, after Kikoru and Mina weaken Daikaiju, Kafka was responsible for applying the last blow to the enemy's core. After an arduous and time -consuming fight, the chapter confirms the death of Mega Kaiju de Meireki. Kaiju No. 8 is a work that does not present the protagonist as the strongest character or someone capable of dealing with all challenges alone. This is one of the interesting points of the narrative, as the other members of the defense force played a key role in the fight against Daikaiju and were able to demonstrate their skills and evolution during the manga chapters.

Kafka applies final blow to Daikaiju and fulfills the purpose of vengeful spirits

After Kafka destroyed the core of Mega Kaiju de Meireki, the vengeful spirits disappear, and the protagonist, who exchanged his own heart to another nucleus, also begins to disappear. The destruction of Daikaiju marks the end of a cycle for the character Kafka Hibino, who fulfills his promise to Mina Ashiro and concludes the purpose of the vengeful spirits that were killed by Mega Kaiju de Meireki in the past.

The manga is in the final stretch, and the next chapter will be the last. With this, Nonaya Matsumoto, author of the work, begins to end the narrative. Until the last chapter, Kafka's fate was open. After the character replaces his own heart with a core, it was clear that he would never return to his human form. However, the work follows a different course.

Isao Shinomiya gives her heart to Kafka

While Kafka accepts his destination and begins to disappear, director Shinomiya thanks the protagonist for freeing him from Mega Kaiju from Meireki and explains that the minds that were fused with him are also disappearing. Isao says that the population will be able to overcome all the sadness and destruction left by Daikaiju, as it happened with other conflicts involving Kaiju.

The director wants Kafka to continue among humans and help in the country's reconstruction and face new threats yet to come. Thus, at the end of the chapter, Isao delivers something that seems to be his heart to Kafka and asks him to send memories to Kikoru and everyone else. After director Shinomiya disappears, the manga reveals that Kafka recovers her human form. In addition, the scene shows that finally Kikoru reaches his goal of freeing Mega Kaiju's father from Meireki.

The fate of the main character divided readers' opinions. While some cheer for a happy ending to Kafka Hibino, others believe their death would bring more weight and emotional load to the work. However, the manga is not over yet, and it is not impossible for chapter 129 to bring some exciting surprise.

Kaiju No. 8 is a work that does not have a narrative that runs away from the ordinary, but conquers with the characters. In addition to the manga innovating with a 30+ protagonist, the secondary characters are also fun. The work not only highlights Kafka Hibino's achievements and evolutions, it is clear that each character has an individual function and strength within the narrative, especially Kikoru Shinomiya, Reno Ichikawa and Soshiro Hoshina.

Where to read Kaiju No. 8

The manga can be read for free on the official Viz Media website and on the Manga Plus platform. However, both have reading limitations. To access the full work, the reader can opt for the monthly subscription of the Shonen Jump+. In addition, with the end of the nearby manga, fans can alleviate the longing for the second season of the anime, which will be released in July on the Crunchyroll streaming platform.
