What happened in episode 5 of Kaiju No. 8?

The previous episode showed Kaiju No. 9 absorbing Isao and the power of Kaiju No. 2 , becoming even more devastating. Narumi and Kafka almost managed to contain it, but the enemy escaped. As Japan mourns the death of its commander, Kikoru and Narumi strengthen their resolve. Meanwhile, Kafka faces the consequences of his body, which begins to lose its human form.
