Kakkou no Iinazuke gets a new trailer and release date

Kadokawa released this Wednesday the main visual , the promotional trailer, the theme songs and the premiere date for the second season of the anime Kakkou no Iinazuke (A Couple of Cuckoos).

The original work is the manga of the same name by author Miki Yoshikawa . The new season premieres on July 8, 2025. Singer asmi will perform the opening theme song, "Kimi ga Kureta Mono ." The closing theme will be performed by the group 22/7 , with the song "Anata de Nakucha."

Crunchyroll will broadcast internationally and will also host a premiere event at Anime Expo on July 3, 2025. Check out the trailer :

The second season will bring major changes to the production. SynergySp is being replaced by Okuruto Noboru (Tomodachi Game). The production team has also changed; check out the new names:

  • Director: Masakazu Hishida ( Ensemble Stars!, King of Prism );
  • Character Design: Kyoko Chika ( Classroom of the Elite );
  • Screenplay: Jou Aoba (pseudonym of Hishida);
  • Soundtrack: Rei Ishizuka (returning from Season 1).

Synopsis of Kakkou no Iinazuke

anime 's first season premiered in April 2022, with 24 episodes airing continuously. Kodansha has been publishing the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine since 2020.

The manga's story revolves around the super-dedicated 16-year-old Meguro River Academy student Nagi Umino. He was switched at the hospital shortly after birth. One day, while on his way to a dinner to meet his biological parents, he accidentally meets the bold and honest Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend, as she never wants to marry. But upon arriving at the restaurant and meeting her parents, Nagi discovers that they want him to marry the switched daughter they raised in the hospital instead of Nagi… who happens to be Erika herself!
