Fuji TV announced that the manga Kanna Kii Umibe no Étranger (L'étranger du Plage or The Stranger on the Beach) will be adapted into anime film. Furthermore, it was revealed that the film will premiere in Japan in the summer of 2020.

Watch the Kanna Kii Umibe teaser on Étranger:

The story revolves around Mio, a high school boy who lost his parents. Shun, a novelist who lived near Mio's house on a remote island in Okinawa, noticed Mio sitting for hours on a bench at the beach. They grew close, but Mio had to leave Okinawa. Three years later, Mio returns to confront his feelings.

Finally, Akiyo Ohashi takes over directing the anime at Studio Hibari , also serving as screenwriter and scriptwriter.
