About Karaoke Iko!

Yama Wayama wrote and illustrated the manga of the same name that inspired the anime. The author released the manga as a Dojin (or fanzine). This type of work is created by fans or independent artists, without official authorization from the copyright holders.

Kadokawa released the first chapter in August 2019. The manga placed third at the 14th Manga Taisho Awards in 2021 and inspired a live-action in January 2024.

Check out the synopsis:

“Nothing worries Satomi Oka more than the upcoming final choir competition of his high school life—until a stranger from the shadows approaches him and demands, 'Let's go to karaoke!'

A terrifying prospect has led Kyouji Narita, a yakuza who doesn't scare easily, to seek Satomi's help. The boss is holding a karaoke contest, in which the loser will be forced to get a tattoo chosen and torturously created by the boss himself!

Oka has attended many vocal rehearsals over the years, but he has never experienced one-on-one karaoke sessions with a gangster!
