The anime is directed by Tomohiro Kawamura ( GAMBA: Gamba to Nakama-tachi ), written by Toyohiro Narui , and character designed by Fumi Ebina . The music is by Shigeru Kishida , vocalist and guitarist of the band Quruli , who is making his debut as a composer for television anime.

What to expect from Kaze wo Tsugu Mono?
The plot takes place in 1863 (year 3 of the Bunkyu era) . A young soldier with no memory is taken to the Mibu Rōshigumi , the organization later known as the Shinsengumi . There, he is taken in by Okita Sōji , who names him Jinsuke Tachikawa . From then on, we follow his life as a member of the troop, while Japan goes through a period of great political instability. Thus, the plot combines human drama, battles, and historical dilemmas, exploring the loss of identity and the search for belonging.
Furthermore, the production draws inspiration from theater, as Narui is the creator of the play Kaze wo Tsugu Mono , acclaimed among history and performing arts fans. Therefore, the project promises to combine historical authenticity and dramatic emotion in a new style of samurai anime.
While many anime have portrayed the Shinsengumi, Inherit the Winds seeks to offer a different interpretation, with detailed description and a touch of fleeting youth . Finally, Aniplex confirms that this will be one of the biggest bets in its line of original works.
