A few weeks ago, rumors circulated that the live-action adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's classic film, Kiki's Delivery Service, would be directed by Takashi Shimizu, who is known for directing various horror series and films.
Kiki's Delivery Service – Anime will have Live-Action
Check it out:
We later reported here that Studio Ghibli (responsible for the animated feature film released in 1989) stated that it had nothing to do with the live-action adaptation. This led to speculation that the project had been cancelled. However, yesterday (April 25th), we received confirmation that the live-action adaptation project is real! The first film (that is not horror) that Shizumu will direct will be based on the novel by Eiko Kadono.

Therefore, several Japanese newspapers and websites have reported that the adaptation is already scheduled for release in the spring of 2014.
Synopsis:
Majo no Takkyubin tells the story of Kiki, a witch who has just turned 13 and, following her family's tradition, must leave home and begin a journey around the world. Along with her talking cat Jiji, she embarks on a trip and arrives in the big city where she gets a job as a delivery girl. Although it seems simple, Kiki will have to face many challenges, but she manages to overcome them in a very fun way.
Finally, the Kiki's Delivery Service manga has six published volumes, but it gained even more popularity after the animated film, released on DVD in Brazil and later shown on TV by HBO channels.
