Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name), anime by director Makoto Shinkai, will have its live-action version, but the project has just gained a top director. Marc Webb, responsible for directing The Amazing Spider-Man and 500 Days of Summer.
It was recently confirmed that the remake will have a Western point of view.
The live-action version will be produced by JJ Abrams, in partnership with Paramount Pictures.
Grossing US$355.2 million worldwide, Your Name surpassed Spirited Away, becoming the highest-grossing anime in the world. Going further, the production became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.
Kimi No Na Wa follows Mitsuha Miyamizu, a young woman who lives in the countryside of Japan and wants to leave her small town behind to try her luck in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Taki Tachibana (Ryûnosuke Kamiki), a young man who works at an Italian restaurant in Tokyo, wants to quit his job to try to become an architect. The two do not know each other, but they are directly and mysteriously connected through the images of their dreams.
