Kinnikuman is a fighting comedy manga created by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada , known then collectively as Yudetamago . The manga originally ran in Japan in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1979 to 1987, and was later adapted into an anime series, films, and games.

The manga is therefore known for its unique combination of comedy and action, and for its distinctive art style that is often parodied in other series. Lastly, Kinnikuman also has a dedicated fan base across the world, and is still popular today, nearly four decades after its first publication.

Synopsis

The story follows the life of a comedic superhero named Kinnikuman, also known as “The Muscle Man,” who is a weak and bumbling fighter who tries to become the greatest fighter in the world. Kinnikuman is an alien from the planet Kinniku and, despite being a hero, is often seen as a clown by the other fighters.
