Mushroom Pup Synopsis

One day, children's book author Hotaru Yuuyami notices a pink mushroom growing under a bush in his garden. As he watches absentmindedly, the mushroom begins to move! With a wagging tail, it looks like a dog, but is it a mushroom? Confused, Hotaru decides to take in this strange creature named Kinokoinu . However, this coexistence promises to be an adventure: Kinokoinu draws in places where he shouldn't, loves takoyaki, and always wants to eat everything. Together with Komako, his childhood editor friend, and Yara from the Mushroom Research Institute, Hotaru spends fun and laughter-filled days with the peculiar Kinokoinu. Although this is a charming and slightly mysterious animation, it tells the happy and curious adventures of this unlikely group.

Kinokoinu : Mushroom Pup is a Japanese manga series by Kimama Aoboshi. It was serialized in Tokuma Shoten's seinen magazine, Monthly Comic Ryū, from July 2010 to February 2022. The manga is also licensed in North America by Digital Manga Publishing.
