The magazine Pash ( Shufu-to-Seikatsu Sha Ltd. ) announced on one of its pages the new official anime from Studio Trigger , titled Kiznaiver .
The anime's staff so far consists of: Hiroshi Kobayashi (episode director for Kill la Kill) as director at Studio Trigger, Mari Okada (Anohana) in charge of the script, Shirow Miwa (Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, illustrator for supercell) as the original character designer, and Mai Yoneyama (Japan Animator Expo “Hill Climb Girl”, animation director for Kill la Kill) who will be responsible for adapting the designs for the anime.
The anime takes place in a fictional Japanese city called Sugomori City. One day, Sonosaki announces to his classmate Katsuhira that he has been selected to be a Kiznaiver . The Kizuna system allows its user, in this case Katsuhira, to share his injuries and connect with his classmates.
The Kizuna system is still incomplete; it was a system implemented in pursuit of world peace through connecting people via their injuries. Those connected to the system are known as Kiznaivers. When one of them is injured, the system divides and transmits their injuries to other Kiznaivers.
Sugomori City is built on land surrounded by the sea, but as the years go by, the city's population is dwindling. In an interview, Okada confirmed that the keyword for the anime is "Kizuna (connection)." The author stated that she wrote the series title first and then the work itself.
Below is a list of the main characters announced so far for the series:
- Noriko Sonosaki : A mysterious and beautiful girl who shares her connection and missions with Katsuhira.
- Katsuhira Akata : He is the protagonist of the story. He only experiences feelings of pain, his mood is vague, and he doesn't pay attention to the other characters.
- Hajime Tenga : a muscular idiot who often doesn't think before he acts. Despite his toughness, he has everything it takes to be a leader.
- Tsuguto Yoshida : A handsome student who is always surrounded by girls. He is very selfish and calculating. Usually very cold towards men.
- Honoka Maki : A girl who is generally very calm, but treats those around her badly.
- Chidori Takashiro : Katsuhira 's friend and the type of person who is always attentive to others. She seems to have feelings for the protagonist.
- Niko Niiyama : A young woman who speaks of the existence of fairies.
- Yoshiharu Hisomu : A handsome man with a distinctive face that everyone recognizes. He is surrounded by an air of mystery.
