Pash magazine ( Shufu-to-Seikatsu Sha Ltd. ) announced on one of its pages the new official anime from Studio Trigger , called Kiznaiver .
The anime team so far is: Hiroshi Kobayashi (Kill la Kill episode director) as director at Studio Trigger, Mari Okada (Anohana) in charge of the script. Shirow Miwa (Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, supercell illustrator) as designer of the original characters and Mai Yoneyama (Japan Animator Expo “Hill Climb Girl”, animation director of Kill la Kill) will be responsible for adapting the projects for the anime.
The anime takes place in a fictional Japanese city called Sugomori City. One day, Sonosaki announces to his classmate Katsuhira that he has been selected to be a Kiznaiver . The Kizuna system allows its user, in this case Katsuhira, to share their injuries and connect with their classmates.
The Kizuna system is still incomplete, it was a system implemented in search of world peace through connecting people through their injuries. Those connected to the system are known as Kiznaivers. When one of them is injured, the system shares and transmits its injuries to other Kiznaivers.
Sugomori City is built on land surrounded by the sea, but as the years pass, the city's population is decreasing. In an interview, Okada confirmed that the key word in the anime is “Kizuna (connection)”. The author stated that she first wrote the title of the series and then the work itself.
Below is a list of the protagonists announced so far in the series:
- Noriko Sonosaki : A mysterious and beautiful girl who shares her connection and missions with Katsuhira.
- Katsuhira Akata : And the protagonist of the story. He only has feelings of pain, his mood is vague and he doesn't pay attention to the other characters.
- Hajime Tenga : a muscular idiot who often doesn't think about what he's going to do. Despite his toughness, he has everything it takes to be a leader.
- Tsuguto Yoshida : A handsome student who is always surrounded by girls. He is very selfish and calculating. Usually very cold towards men.
- Honoka Maki : A girl who is generally very calm, but treats those around her poorly.
- Chidori Takashiro : 's friend , and the type of person who is always attentive to others. She appears to feel something for the protagonist.
- Niko Niiyama : A young girl who talks about the existence of fairies.
- Yoshiharu Hisomu : A handsome man with a distinctive face that everyone recognizes. He is surrounded by an air of mystery.
