The official website for anime began showing a new trailer this Sunday (12). The video previews the opening song “Shisso” (Sprint) by Rib, as well as the song “Kiba to Tsubasa” (Fang and Wing) by May'n.
10 more cast members were also revealed:
Taiten Kusunoki as Oda Nobuhide, Hidenari Ugaki as Shibata Katsuie, Mugihito as Hirate Masahide, Kenichirou Matsuda as Hayashi Hidesada, Kousuke Toriumi as Hayashi Michitomo, Ryohei Kimura as Sakuma Nobumori, Atsushi Tamaru as Sakuma Morishige, Ayumu Murase as Oda Hidetaka, Masako Katsuki as Dota Gozen and Tesshō Genda as Saitō Dōsan.
The anime will put a “bold spin” on historical figure Oda Nobunaga starting with his youth as a precocious teenager. The series will follow his rivalry with his younger brother, Nobuyuki.
Oda Nobunaga was a great daimyo from the Sengoku period of Japanese history. Son of Oda Nobuhide, a warrior of minor importance and little land in the province of Owari. Nobunaga lived a life of continuous military conquests until he conquered almost all of Japan, when he was assassinated in 1582. His successors are Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu who, like Oda, were extremely important figures in Japanese history. Nobunaga is remembered in Japan as one of the most brutal characters of the Sengoku period.
Set to premiere in July 2019, the show will be broadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX, AT-X, WOWOWOW and BS-Fuji. The anime will reunite staff from the Hakuouki franchise, including character designer Atsuko Nakajima, script supervisor Ryota Yamaguchi and screenwriter Megumu Sasano. Additionally, Kaoru Sawada (Diamond Daydreams, Junji Ito “Collection”) is also writing the scripts as well as Noriyuki Abe (Yū Yū Hakusho, Bleach, GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) directing the series. Yusuke Shirato (Lost Song) is composing the music at Flying Dog studio.
Sasano has released a novel adaptation on Animage since January 10th. The novel will serve not only as a prequel but also as a spinoff.
